The Rihla is a journey with a purpose:  an inner transformation rooted in sound knowledge and spiritual discipline.

About the Journey

Finding Yourself at the Rihla

Sacred Places, Sacred Gatherings

For over 15 years, the Rihla programs have evolved and been refined to provide the optimum student experience. Students today will benefit, God-willing, from a program that balances classroom education, group study, devotional practices and focused site visitations. Our goal is to deliver a holistic experience to all participants where they each return home with a renewed sense of purpose and direction.

The main objective of the Rihla curriculum is to provide students with knowledge that is both a religious duty for each Muslim to learn (fard ‘ayn) and immediately applicable in life. Students will be given the tools to take Islam beyond the classroom and be given practical knowledge with which they can live Islam.

Courses will include the foundations of faith – an understanding of essential Muslim creed (‘aqidah) which grounds a believer by knowing the attributes of both God and His prophets. Various courses in the sacred law (fiqh) will ensure students are well-grounded in the particulars of ritual purity, prayer, fasting, as well as the guidelines of an ethical lifestyle – including the guidelines for marriage, divorce, child-rearing, and more. Students will also be given the foundations of spiritual excellence, so that they may direct themselves towards God more completely through developing the internal states leading to sincerity.

The courses will be part of a complete enrichment experience including coordinated study breaks, review sessions, well-designed course materials, private devotional time, and coordinated recreational activities. Students can, insha’Allah, reap the benefits of combining professional courses, enlightening teachers, and a focused yet spiritually stimulating environment.

When people say that the Rihla can change your life, it is absolutely and unequivocally true. I met myself for the first time there. My essence: deep down, true self.
